It is one thing for the Cross to be on a hill,
Calvary, Golgotha, call it what you will.
It is outside the city, placed between two thieves,
Rooted in history, in time and space,
This I believe.
But there is yet another place
Where I must behold the Cross,
Where it must work the work of Christ
To which I must submit, and in Him I must die,
So that in Him I shall live.
That place is in my heart, in my soul and in my life;
O Lord Jesus do Your work,
Let me know no life apart
From You and from Your Cross,
Planted in my heart, forever in my heart.
